The RFL Teen Services Department strives to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all teens within the greater Riverhead Community, with special programming that is designed for youth entering grades 7 through 12. We recognize that teens can be drawn to libraries to access the library’s Internet or computers, use the library’s research resources, study, read, write, discuss books, socialize, participate in programming, and just “hang out.”
To meet, support and vitalize these needs, our "Teen Loft" provides a neutral, safe space where we provide opportunities where adolescents can grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially in a caring, nurturing and respectful environment; where they can develop new literacies for learning and expression; and gain workplace preparedness through engagement in various community service projects. We are dedicated to serving the Teens of our community with compassion and understanding.
